This Whirlpool WMC20005YW unique square microwave looks like an old TV set. This is very ingeniously designed appliance. The digital controls and clock are on the bottom rather than on the side and there is no numeric keypad. Cooking times are in increments and there are three additional settings for defrost reheat and popcorn. It seems to function well and we are very pleased.
The display clock, with blue LED lights, is large, attractive and easy to read. Beeps signals when food is done and when you need to turn the item that’s defrosting. The real innovation is the rounded back, so the microwave can fit into a corner and take up about the same amount of counter space as a regular small microwave, but have sufficient interior space to accommodate a full sized dinner plate. We ordered the white to match our toaster, mixer and food processor and it looks great.
This little Whirlpool WMC20005YW microwave fits my needs perfectly. It is a lower wattage than my last one, but it is also nowhere near the counter hog either. It has a rounded back that tucks right into a corner of the counter, serious space saver. It only takes a little longer to heat things up which I don’t mind in the least.
Heats liquids and leftovers well, cook frozen foods perfectly, that’s really all I need it for, and I don’t cook in my microwave so I can’t speak to its abilities on preparing actual microwave recipes. Cleaning it is a breeze with the rounded back, no digging into the back corners.
The glass turntable seats perfectly back in the oven after cleaning – my last one would never seat right and would thump around, not so in this one. The controls are flush to the front and can be wiped right off, and the door has an indentation on the side to pull to open. When you press the start button it automatically starts cooking to 30 seconds and you can keep pressing it for more 30 second intervals. That’s a nice feature that I use often.
Whirlpool WMC20005YW fits our small available space perfectly, it works like a champ, and the interior is surprisingly roomy. We’ve had it about three months, and only once in all that time did I try to put something into it that was too tall. And that was an easy fix — It was a casserole lid, and it worked to turn it upside down. So, we love this thing. It’s slightly less powerful than the full-size one we replaced, but it seems like it takes about the same time to heat things up.
This Whirlpool WMC20005YW microwave is excellent for the small household and the person who does not do complex cooking. It’s full-plate size, fine for heat-ups and smaller casserole dishes. Best of all is the way it fits into a corner.
Yes it takes up space, is not “tiny” but fits under cabinets and leaves you more counter space. Controls are easy to set. Haven’t had a microwave in years, and somebody suggested this. I’m happy with it.
It takes up very little room, plus it fits easily into a corner. It has a rotating glass tray that holds a standard size dinner plate. It’s tall enough to fit a 16 ounce mug with room to spare, but it is shorter than many standard microwaves. It has digital controls that are very simple but work just fine. We’re older and actually really appreciate that simplicity. Some things take longer to cook but not by much.
This Whirlpool WMC20005YW is a wonderful microwave, but then I think the small size is the best part! I bought it for my small kitchen, and it’s not only adorable. Love it!
If you want all the bells and whistles and to be able to zap things quickly, this is not the microwave for you. On the other hand, if you need a smaller microwave that is easy to use and very sturdy I definitely recommend this one.
