Ka-Bar Becker Campanion BK2 Review

Ka-Bar Becker Campanion BK2 ReviewThe Ka-Bar Knives Becker Campanion BK2 is one heck of a fixed-blade knife. It’s designed to be an all-round camping/hunting/survival knife to chop thick branches, clean game, cut ropes, slice wild animals and more.

  • Blade Finish: Black Traction
  • Blade Length: 5-1/4?
  • Blade Material: 1095 Cro-Van Steel
  • Blade Thickness: 1/4?
  • Handle: Zytel
  • Overall Length: 10-1/2?
  • Sheath: Kydex
  • Weight: 1.0 lbs

The blade is made of 1095 Cro-Van (Chromium Vanadium) steel for strength (achieves hardness of 57-58 on the Rockwell scale). It contains 0.95% Carbon, 0.5% Chromium (that’s added for better hardening) and 0.2% Vanadium (which aids in the bonding process). It is full tang construction which makes it extremely strong to take heavy abuse hence suitable for batoning wood and prying cans without breaking. It comes with drop point, plain, Saber grind, 20-degree edge blade that’s razor-sharp out of the box to handle almost any activities in the wild such as chopping wood, cleaning wild animals, cutting ropes, gutting trout, splitting thick hardwood logs and other outdoor tasks with ease. The extended tang (about 1/3-inch to 1/2-inch) sticks out of the handle bottom allows it to be used as a chisel.

The blade is finished with non-reflective black traction coating for attractiveness and durability.

** Since it contains just 0.5% Chromium, it rusts rather easily. As such, it needs regular maintenance to keep it at its best. Just a light oil coating is all that’s needed after use to keep it optimum.

The ergonomic handle is made of two slabs of light, sturdy Zytel (held together by allen screws) that is comfortable to hold yet offers secure, no-slip grip wet or dry when using the knife to perform various outdoor chores. It comes in black for tactical reason.

It has a lanyard hole at the end of the handle to tie paracord or rope to attach it to a backpack or belt for convenient and safer transport.

It comes with durable, high-quality, tough, well-designed, well-molded Kydex (to repel moisture) sheath to hold knife firmly in place after use (even without using the snap-on belt) to ensure that it remains sharp always. It has a drain hole at the bottom (near the tip) so that water can drain out should water get inside. It also comes with few lanyard holes to wrap Molle straps, paracord or ropes hence it can be hung in the neck or tie around the leg during hiking as well as an indented section that makes it possible to store fire starter for camping use.

Final Thoughts

The Ka-Bar Becker Campanion BK2 is a heavy-duty knife that’s designed to carry out various hunting activities in the wild with ease. You will never want to leave home without it once you have feel its versatility.
