The blade is made of high-carbon steel for strength. It comes with 15-inch razor-sharp fine edge blade on one side to chop off foliage, shrubs, thin branches, undergrowth and weeds in a single sweep as well as 18-inch “toothy” serrated saw blade on the other side to clear shooting lanes and sawing off thicker (2-inch to 3-inch) branches.
It’s plain edge is easy to sharpen and maintains a good edge even after repeated abuse.
The blade is finished with black oxide coating for durability and ruggedness to last for a long time without much problem.
** Machete is partial tang construction hence it is not really strong for heavy-duty tasks. Moreover the blade is soft and slightly thinner than most heavy-duty machetes hence suitable for occasional camping trip unlike the heavier and thicker bladed machetes that are often used to chop heavy and thick branches.
** It is also difficult to sharpen the serrated saw edges.
It comes with an ergonomic, soft, tactile rubber grip handle held together by bolts and nuts for better handling and comfort when using this machete to do camping-related tasks. Includes lanyard hole at the end of the handle to tie lanyard or paracord to the wrist so that it will not drop or fly out of the hand during swiping or whacking.
** Bolts and nuts that hold handle in place loosen up over time hence it will wiggle a little bit during use. Need to tighten them as and when it is required.
It comes with a black, riveted, 400-denier, heavy-nylon sheath to store machete in place after use as well as provide safe transport from places to places. It also comes with built-in plastic protector for the saw edge to prevent shredding. It includes belt loop to attach it to the belt conveniently.
Although the machete is quite large at 25 inches in length, it weighs just 1 pound hence it offers excellent cutting performance without placing too much strain on the arms. It makes a good survival tool when out in the wild.
