DeLonghi DD50P Basement Dehumidifier Review

There are many dehumidifiers available in the market but most of them are perfectly designed for basement use. However, the DeLonghi DD50P has many features that a good basement dehumidifier should have. This dehumidifier is built to keep the air in even the biggest area, moist- and germ-free.

Works Great in Dehumidifying the Place

Its ability to stop dehumidifying also contributes to the lesser energy consumption. The dehumidifier is installed with an adjustable humidistat that lets you set the dehumidifier to the desired humidity level. You will be able to adjust the humidity levels between 35 to 75% according to your preference. Once the humidity level is achieved, the fan stays on at the minimal speed. When the humidity level rises again, the condenser is turned on automatically and the process repeats itself. Not only does this cuts on energy usage and expenses, it also prolongs the dehumidifier’s lifespan.

Mother Nature and your wallet will thank you for using the DeLonghi DD50P. The dehumidifier is Energy Star compliant because it uses 10 to 20% less energy, thanks to the 24-hour programmable timer that will shut down the machine after a certain operating time. Not only this will reduce your energy consumption and cost, it will also limit the amount of heat released into its surrounding environment. The R-410A refrigerant used inside its cooling system also contributes to its eco-friendliness factor.

Best Feature – Pump the Water Out

If you attach the hose for water drainage, you can always count on the patented internal condensate pump. The DeLonghi DD50P can automatically pump out the extracted moisture through the included 16 feet hose to a nearby sink or window. That means you don’t have to lift the dehumidifier and place it somewhere higher than the drain outlet. Of course, you can rely on gravity if you think there is no need for pumping.

To empty the tank manually, just detach it from the dehumidifier by pulling at its handles. Slid it back in after emptying it. Do not worry about putting it back correctly as there is a subtle beeping sound that will alert you that the tank needs to be readjusted.

Cleaning the DeLonghi DD50P’s 7-liter clear tank is an easy job and there are three tank cleaning options. Of course, the auto shut down system is handy in preventing any accidental spill from the tank.

Safety Features

There are a few safety features that are built in the DeLonghi DD50P. They are designed to protect both you and the dehumidifier. To avoid any spills that could get someone accidentally slipping off the floor, there will be a warning light and an alarm that will notify you that the water tank is full. To expand the longevity of the dehumidifier, an auto-defrost system is built inside the dehumidifier. The compressor will stop operating when there is ice formed on the coils. It will only resume its function when the ice has melted from the coils.

The dehumidifier is great for removing up to 50 pints of water and 24-hour operation. This makes it great for medium to large space which includes your bedroom, basement and garage. If you worry about moving it from room to room, don’t worry. There are casters installed on the dehumidifier so it will be easy sliding it anywhere.

For a dehumidifier that will dehumidify a basement of up to 1000 sq. ft. the DeLonghi DD50P is a great option. It performs very well and is really easy to use. The best part of it is that you can use it without any guilt to the environment or your spending accounts.
